What is the EDB and How is It Used on the Audi RS 3?

When the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) was first used on vehicles, there was a significant drop in accidents in Matthews, NC as well as nearly everywhere else in the world. Yet, the ABS was not the complete answer, and improvements were inevitable. One of those improvements was the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution System (EBD).

The original ABS applied and removed brakeforce in a staccato fashion until the rotation rate of wheel balanced with the opposing wheel. In some situations, like those on a race track or an Interstate, the ABS was not enough to avoid rollovers or worse. As technology improved, the EBD came into play with its capability of adjusting the brake force applied to individual tires.

At Audi Charlotte, we monitor and adjust the performance level of your EBD as well as the ABS to ensure you have the maximum protection against injury.
