Luxury brand Audi is known its excellence in racing, and recently, the automaker defended its title of champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship. In true Audi fashion, they also claimed top honors in the DTM racing series.
The 6 Hours of Fuji race this time around was extremely wet, and it actually ended after only 16 laps due to heavy rainfall. Although at first Toyota took the first place, Allan McNish, Loic Duval and Tom Kristensen took the second-place finish and rushed into first-place overall for World Endurance Champion.
It’s difficult to put the race in to words, but as Autoblog explains, " While the actual drivers' title still remains in contention, the battle now comes down exclusively to the two leading Audi trios: McNish, Kristensen and Duval hold the lead with 147 points ahead of André Lotterer, Marcel Fässler and Benoît Tréluyer, who hold 106.25 points in the standings. Either way, Audi will be awarded both the drivers' and manufacturers' titles in the series with two races still to go in Shanghai and Bahrain."1
The Audi "1" vehicle suffered a few issues during the rainy race. Though it was originally in the first-place position, debris entered its engine's intake duct, and it had to undergo some repairs. We can likely say weather was a factor.
