Here at Audi of Charlotte we were thrilled to hear that yet another one of the new Audi vehicles is getting featured on the big screen. This time around the Audi R8 e-tron is starring alongside superhero Tony Stark in Iron Man 3. Perhaps it was the speed that made this model so perfect for the role, considering it broke a world record at the Nurburgring, the track known for its extreme difficulty level.
The Audi R8 certainly demonstrates some impressive power, especially since it is an EV model. With two electric motors that generate 289 kW (about 375 hp), it certainly puts a whole new spin on the way we look at electric mobility. What's even more exciting is that this supercar can zoom from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds. Combined this with its record breaking top speed of 155 mph, and we've got ourselves a perfect mode of transportation for a superhero.
Also featured in the R8 is a rechargeable 49 KWh lithium-ion battery. This would give Tony Stark a traveling distance of about 133 miles, since it has the unique ability to utilize coasting and breaking time to partially recharge. With all of this great efficiency and innovative Audi parts, the R8 seems to have more in common with Iron Man than just speed.
