Audi sports cars are among the most popular luxury vehicles worldwide, with 2023 cars topping 1.9 million cars.

Audi vehicles offer supreme luxury, slick exteriors, and superior performance. They're also among the most sustainable vehicles available today.

The all-electric Audi RS e-tron is the leader in Audi's stable of electric cars, with a 112% increase in sales over the year. Read on to find out more about this sophisticated and sustainable high-performance vehicle.

Audi Sports Performance and Sleek Sustainability

Across the globe, Audi has embraced the latest EU sustainability regulations and taken things one step further by transforming its manufacturing plants into net carbon-neutral production facilities, one by one.

The brand has embraced recycling wholeheartedly, using recyclable and recycled materials in all its vehicles as much as possible.

Audi's range of electric cars is an impressive testament to the brand's commitment to sustainability without sacrificing sporty performance, and the Audi e-tron is one of the best examples of these efforts.

Audi e-tron Engine Performance and Power

The Audi e-tron has a duo of electric motors to create an electric version of Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system. The base model generates 522 HP and 464 lb-ft of torque, while the top-of-the-range RS e-tron GT produces a staggering 637 horsepower output and 472 lb-ft of torque with the over-boost function.

An innovative two-speed rear transmission ensures drivers enjoy mind-boggling acceleration by offering a first gear for getting the ball rolling, backed by a second top gear to optimize efficiency. A complex cooling system ensures the batteries can handle repeated runs without undergoing heat-related degradation.

The Audi e-tron GT features all-wheel steering and adjustable air suspension. Selective regenerative braking settings are adjustable via a paddle on the steering wheel and contribute to smooth, stable handling.

This responsive braking system, coupled with sharp inputs, means the e-tron takes corners in its stride. Buyers can opt for rear-wheel steering for extra stability and tighter cornering at high speeds. This feature is standard in the RS e-tron GT.

Driving Range and Speed

The RS e-tronGT manages 240 miles before needing recharging. This is less than its rivals, but Audi makes up for that with super-fast charging capabilities.

The RS e-tron can charge up to 80% from 55 in just 22.5 minutes thanks to its innovative 800V technology. This adds convenience and ease for drivers who opt for a sustainable ride.

In speed tests, the Audi e-tron GT made the trip from zero to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, while the RS e-tron GT got there in 2.9 seconds.

Design and Technology

The Audi e-tron GT has a length of 196.4 inches and a wheelbase of 114.1 inches. This might seem a little small, but the interior has enough space for four adults, although the second row is a little cozy.

It has a sports car profile with low road clearance and a low, receding roofline.

Overall, the inside of the e-tron GT is modern and luxurious, featuring premium materials.

Up front, the cabin has an industry-standard-size glovebox, door pockets, and a center console storage bin. The center console has an uncovered slot alongside the gear selector for additional storage, a wireless charging pad, and two cupholders.

Rear-seat passengers get door pockets and a fold-down center armrest with two cupholders.

The gauge cluster and infotainment panels have digital displays, easy-to-use controls, and some hard buttons for often-used features. Parking sensors and a backup camera make up for the small rear-view window.

The stylish dashboard has a solid construction and perfectly padded surfaces that extend to the rest of the cabin. The seats are exceptionally comfortable and upholstered in a mix of Dinamica microfiber faux suede and leatherette.

Audi aspires to craft its seats from recycled materials, hence the preponderance of synthetic materials. Purists may choose Nappa leather upholstery with honeycombed stitching if preferred.

Although the standard upholstery is available exclusively in classic black, leather color options include Arras Red, Monaco Gray, and Santos Brown. The brown or gray leather seat options come with matching center door and lower dashboard panels.

Both of the e-tron trims have an Alcantara-trimmed flat-bottomed steering wheel and natural walnut wood inlays, but you can opt for matte carbon fiber instead. All options cost several thousand dollars more.

Audi e-tron Pricing

Although the Audi e-tron shares many similarities with the Porsche Taycan, it's available in a slightly more affordable price range. The e-tron range varies from around $71,000 for the base model to under $150,000 for the RS e-tron GT.

The Taycan starts at $100,000, with prices soaring to almost $160,000.

Audi simplifies things for buyers by offering just two models and fewer additional packages, which attests to their confidence in the original design.

New Features for 2024

The 2024 Audi e-tron models aren't significantly different from previous iterations, except for the RS and Prestige trims. These vehicles now have matrix LED headlights featuring laser high beams.

These lights have a chip with a million micromirrors, borrowed from video projector technology, that steers the illumination of the road ahead more precisely.

Blue laser spotlights augment the high beams to project several hundred yards ahead. A swish faux-suede headliner is a final luxurious touch to complement the high-tech lighting.

All trims have new LED interior lighting, inlays on the doorsills, and a new power steering system designed to vary steering assist based on speed.

A six-month subscription to Audi's Connect Plus infotainment app suite completes the lineup of improvements. This feature offers a seamless connection to mobile navigation services, entertainment, and information on demand.
