The next generation of German excellence is here.

According to IBIS World, there are exactly 260 electric vehicle manufacturers in the US as of 2023. But with all the EVs in the country, we have to tell you, it is the Audi Q4 e-tron that has captured our hearts.

What you have here is elegance, speed, and innovation on wheels.

From a buyer's distant perspective, this electric Audi may look deceptively similar to the hundreds of EVs out there. That's why we're taking you inside.

Our 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron interior tour will show you what sets this electric mastery apart and possibly persuade you to join the Audi EV revolution.

Steering Wheel

The first thing you are sure to notice about this German car's interior is the hexagonal steering wheel. It exemplifies a perfect balance between leather and aluminum.

Binding the leather around the wheel is exquisite white stitching.

Settled on both sides of the Audi steering wheel are the haptic feedback buttons. On the right are shortcut buttons to control the digital cockpit display. While the buttons on the left allow you to navigate through songs, increase, and lower volume, and even manage your phone.

In the middle of the four-spoke wheel are the four classic Audi rings engraved in silver.

Seats and Carpets

The Audi Q4 leather seats look rather sporty and comfortable.

The black leather seats are sewn with rock-gray stitching. Though buyers must note that the thread color differs according to seat color.

Just one look at the exceptional craftsmanship used in stitching and you know that this is a premium car brand.

Both front seats can be heated. And perched on the sides of these seats are great lumbar support controls.

Audi didn't forget about families with young children. The two extreme back seats have recognizable slots to fit your baby's car seats.

As far as the carpets go, they are black with a good plush finish. The seatbelts are rather standard and black.

Storage

The 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron is generous with storage. The total capacity of this five-seater is 53.1 cubic feet with the seats folded and 24.8 cubic feet with them up.

As far as legroom and headroom go, any six-foot passenger will still be quite comfortable.

The front legroom stands at 41.2 inches while the headroom measures 38.5 inches. The rear leg and headroom are both 38.3 inches.

For added comfort, Audi has two indentations behind the front seats. The indentations act as a gap for anyone who needs extra space for their knees. So, instead of hitting against the front seats, a taller person would have their knees in the gap.

Both front and rear door panels have space fit for water bottles. In between the front seats, you will also find two adjustable cup holders and some more storage room.

The glove compartment in the e-tron is spacious enough for all your files and comes fitted with a nifty pencil holder.

Tech Control

If you have ever driven an Audi, then you know that innovative technology is an Audi trademark. Most of the exciting Audi tech sits at the front of the car, canvassed in a genuine wood dash on the infotainment system.

The infotainment system in the Audi e-tron is nothing short of spectacular. The 10.1-inch screen is home to the Audi safety suite and navigation.

This technology is not new to Audi. It resembles what we've already seen in other Audi models.

The home screen is decked with several widgets including radio, media, and navigation.

Navigation

When you click on the navigation widget, you'll be transported to the car's navigation settings. Here you can choose between the satellite map format or stick with the more traditional map format. The settings also allow you to configure the map orientation and choose between day or night mode.

Safety Sense

Next on the screen is Audi's take on safety.

Three widgets are part of the Audi safety system. The first is the Audi drive select. It allows you to choose different driving modes. The included modes are efficiency, comfort, auto, individual, and dynamic.

Like the drive select, the steering wheel configuration on Audi also has a dynamic option as well as a comfortable option.

Next on the safety list is the driver assist. It's packed with features like speed warning, predictive speed limit, adaptive cruise assist, distance warning, and lane departure warning. While the pre-sense has side assist, rest recommendations, and an exit warning system.

In the same spirit of safety, the e-tron dash is angled toward the driver. This makes controlling the system and changing between configurations an easy experience.

Other settings housed in the infotainment system include language settings, media, weather, and our favorite, service interval. The service interval reminds drivers of the time gap until their next service.

The Digital Cockpit

The Audi digital cockpit sits right behind the steering wheel. This is particularly exciting for anyone with pilot dreams.

Settings to configure the cockpit are in the infotainment system.

The digital cockpit displays features you would often find on any speedometer. An exciting exception is the satellite navigation display. This satellite display provides a choice between a dynamic display and a more classic format.

Distance to charge and energy consumption are also part of the digital cockpit exhibit.

Augmented Reality

The head-up feature will inch you into the world of Audi augmented reality.

In the e-tron, the AR heads-up is portrayed on the windscreen and it shows, among other factors,l your travel speed.

Should you want to shift the AR display, you can adjust it on the infotainment screen.

Sound System

At home on the front pillars and doors is the Sonos sound system. The sound system embedded in the electric Q4 is the ten-speaker panoramic Sonos system.

This is the first Audi to chamber Sonos.

Through sound settings, you can adjust the treble, bass, and focus. The focus feature allows you determine which area the sound output should focus on in the car.

Convectional Switches

Below the infotainment screen are the easy-to-use conventional switches. The silver switches control the car's climate and heated seats.

Floating Control Panel

The floating control panel sits beneath the conventional switches. This Audi panel is enough to excite anyone who has ever seen Star Wars.

On the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron panel, you will find the engine button, the hazards switch, and the media switch which is an Audi staple, visible in other Audi models.

The gear shifter resides in the middle of the panel. The shifter allows you to switch between the reverse mode, neutral, drive, and brake.

Underneath the control is another storage space with two USB ports and a power outlet.

The 2022 Audi Q4 E-tron Interior Misses

Though we would recommend the 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron to any buyer seeking a luxury EV, there are a few things that we would change. Firstly, the haptic feedback buttons on the steering wheel are very sensitive. A simple glide over them will have you accidentally shifting through songs or dialing a friend.

The second thing we aren't crazy about is the plastic on the floating control panel. Its glossy design makes it prone to fingerprint marks.

Owning an EV

The 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron interior not only speaks of Audi's artistry but also its commitment to safety and driver experience. One thing is evident, Audi's electric models are pushing the envelope on innovation while not compromising on style and comfort.
