If you’re in the market for a new luxury compact SUV, turn your sights to the new 2020 Audi Q5.

Audi Q5’s price of $44,295 starts with the standard edition that comes with all the advancements that you’d expect to be in a new SUV. Although the advanced technology is for the more expensive models, the Q5 still packs a punch in a polished and spacious vehicle.

Before you purchase, you want to know more about the specs and features that equate to the price tag. Don’t fret, we have you covered and will take you through a complete 2020 Audi Q5 review.

Under the Hood

What’s powering the Q5 under the hood is the most important piece to Audi’s puzzle.

The 2020 Audi Q5 features a 252 horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The vehicle is a seven-speed automatic and has Quattro all-wheel drive, which is Audi’s patented all-wheel-drive performance that has been around for the last 35 years.

With an engine like that under the hood, the Q5 can give you the punch to get going on the on-ramp, but stay quiet and smooth while doing so.

In the plug-in hybrid version, the engine adds an electric motor which increases output to 349 horsepower and 369-foot pounds of torque. Audi claims that with this engine acceleration will improve.

No matter the road or driving conditions, Audi has you covered. A range of driving modes pits this vehicle among the best in handling and power, all packing into a luxury SUV.

Plug Into the Hybrid Community

Since Tesla hit the ground running donning a plug-in hybrid fuel source, the competition is gearing up for this trend.

The 2020 Audi Q5 comes in both a regular gas edition and a more expensive combination gas-electric option. Miles per gallon (mpg) is a staple in the vehicle space and Audi’s new edition doesn’t lag on effectiveness.

EPA estimates the Q5 earns 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway in the regular all gas version. The hybrid comes in a little higher at 25 mpg city and 29 highway.

In real-world fuel-economy testing, Audi put the pressure on the Q5 and it performed with flying colors. The gas-only Q5 only missed the government higway estimate by o1 mpg (a 26 mpg result), but still outworked the Cadillac XT5.

If you’re looking to save a few dollars in fill-ups, the 2020 Audi Q5’s two fuel economy editions give you a variety of options at the gas pump or charging station.

Sleek and Spacious

If you’re purchasing a luxury vehicle, you expect the outside and inside to reflect the term.

When looking at the 2020 Audi Q5 head-on, the first thing you’ll notice is it’s distinctive Singleframe grille and LED headlights. As you make your way down the side of the vehicle, the sleek shape and curves will take you to the LED taillights with a dynamic turn signal.

Pop the doors open and the Audi Q5 interior is as stylish as the exterior. The leather upholstery includes heated front seats that are both power-adjustable. Of course, you can add on a plethora of seating specifications including, sport seats, a heated steering wheel and more.

With your hands on the wheel, you’ll notice Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster, three-zone automatic climate control with rear digital display, an MMI all-in-touch pad located above the gear shifter and an expansive wraparound dash with infotainment display. The 12.3-inch display features navigation and access to Google Earth without taking your eyes off the speedometer.

A standard nowadays, Audi includes Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto integration providing access to your smartphone to make calls and voice control actions without physically using your device. To avoid distractions, Audi incorporates advanced driver assistance technology to help alert you of the unpredictability you encounter may on the road.

Ambient or white LED interior lighting runs throughout the car and can bring some additional color with a choice of Maritime Blue or Impluse Red.

There is a decent amount of cargo space with 53.1 cubic feet of capacity and 40/20/40 rear seatbacks that fold down. This is a great use of space when you aren’t carrying any backseat passengers.

Which Model to Buy

Although the standard 2020 Audi Q5’s specs meet the price point that we’ve covered, there are other options.

Priced at $48,695 is the Premium Plus and at $52,455 is the Prestige. These editions of the Q5 add yet another dose of luxury features to the pot.

The upgrades include an innovative digital gauge cluster, enhanced infotainment system, larger 19-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof and dozens of other specifications. There is also the Warm Weather package with ventilated front sport seats and the Black Optic pack with 20-inch wheels and dark exterior trim. The cheapest option is the Cold Weather kit with winter floor mats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.

The choice is up to the buyer, but there are plenty of options. Price points alone, consider adding one of the various packages to the premium vehicle.
