Know Your Four-Wheel Drive Functions

When you're out in your vehicle, there are only a few things that are more frustrating than getting stuck in mud or snow. If you're far out in the country, you could have to wait a while to get a tow. But if you have four-wheel drive, it's less likely that you'll get stuck in heavy mud and snow than if you have only front-wheel or rear-wheel drive. There are also some special functions that you can adjust to get the most out of your four-wheel drive.

Four-low drive should be used when you're driving in thick, deep mud or snow. Some other practical applications for this mode are water and steep paths. This gives the vehicle more torque, which helps vehicles gain traction on slippery roads.

Four-high drive should be used during most driving. For instance, if you're driving on a regular road that's a little slippery, you can use four-high drive to get your vehicle unstuck.
