As many of you in the greater Charlotte area may remember, the Audi R8 was a highly anticipated addition to the new Audi lineup back in 2006. It was the first model to feature a double-clutch gearbox and was best known for a being a supercar that offered drivers great versatility. With the upcoming release of the 2013 Audi R8, we are excited to see what changes are in store.
While a majority of the enhancements are on the mechanical side, the new model will certainly have a lot to offer in terms of style and performance. For starters, the old gearbox was replaced by a dual-clutch S-tronic with a seven-speed transmission. This enhanced coupe will also feature a V10 plus as a standard option with carbon ceramic brakes.
Looking more closely at performance, the Audi R8 offers 542 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds. It also has a maximum speed of 197 mph, definitely quite a change from what was offered with the 2006 model.
