At the 2013 Geneva Moto Show, the Audi A3 e-tron officially debuted and was followed by the automaker's announcement that it will be adding it to the new Audi lineup within the U.S. sometime next year. With its sporty appeal and efficient powertrain, we are excited to uncover the details.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the e-tron model, picture the Audi A3 hatchback, only instead of a standard internal combustion engine, it sports a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine coupled with a an electric motor powertrain. This allows the model to crank out 204 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
We can also expect the A3 e-tron to be built on a new platform that increases interior space. In terms of features it will include an infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers and Wi-Fi with the built-in 4G LTE. These are just a few of the features that will be available to the new plug-in hybrid.
"The Audi A3 will set the new benchmark among entry-level luxury sedans," explains Scott Keogh, Audi of America president. "This A3 line-up redefines the standards of its class in dynamics, efficiency, technology, craftsmanship and performance."1
