Here at Audi of Charlotte, we were catching up on some automotive news when we noticed a report from Car and Driver stating that a new Audi vehicle could be making its way stateside in the near future. It's a pretty bold suggestion, and one we hope turns out to be true.

The publication says the Audi RS5 Cabriolet might be on its way to the greater Charlotte area using some crafty research. The RS5, a two-door coupe that has been on the market since 2010 is based on the Audi S5 platform, with performance specs like 450 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque with Quattro All-Wheel Drive and a dual-clutch transmission.

Sounds like a lot of fun, right? But, you're probably wondering what makes Car and Driver so confident in their conjecture? Let us explain.

Recently, Audi submitted paperwork for a convertible to be certified with the California Air Resources Board. In order for vehicles to go on sale in the Golden State, they must meet all the credentials outlined by the board.

We will point out that automakers apply for certification all the time just to have it, and it doesn't mean it comes stateside. However, given that the Audi RS5 Coupe will be coming to dealership lots like ours here at Audi of Charlotte in the near future, we think there's a pretty good chance of the cabriolet following suit, and this only adds fuel to the fire.
