For as long as Audi has produced luxury vehicles that own the road like the 2012 Audi A6, it has also been on the racing scene, competing in events across the world, garnering many podium finishes and accolades. However, there is always history to be made, and Audi recently earned an overall victory where it never had before: the Nurburgring 24-Hour Race.

Taking home the top spot at the famed German track was thanks to the Audi R8 LMS Ultra. Using two vehicles, the four-man team of Marc Basseng, Chrstopher Haase, Frank Stippler and Markus Winkelhock drove both models not only to first place, but second place as well, and did so with no crashes or technical issues, showing off the high-performing racing edition of the Audi R8 and it's vehicle integrity.

Finishing one-two isn't anything new to Audi racing, as they've accomplished the feat multiple times this year, including at the Bathurst 12-Hour, Spa 24-Hour, and Zolder 24-Hour races. Here at Audi of Charlotte we're guessing the competition are scratching their heads, wondering how they can take down the Audi juggernaut.

That said, it's a really proud day for Audi Sport and racing, as the R8 LMS has routinely been one of the best performing GT3 cars at the Nurburgring race over the past three years, but had never quite gotten that first-place overall victory that it had wanted. Now that they finally are the top dog at one of the world's most famous endurance races, it has to feel really good.
