In 2010, Audi released a V10 version of the Audi R8, the V10 5.2 FSI. That vehicle boasted quite a bit of power, but the U.S.-based tuning company APR Tuned has set out to do it one better, building an R8 with more power, and it has all of us here at Audi of Charlotte intrigued.

Comparatively, it won't be a huge upgrade, but this performance boost will give the ultimate Audi R8 speedster, the R8 GT some greater competition in the new Audi lineup and its racing division.

The first upgrade comes via some new engine upgrades. Instead of doing a full engine swap, APR Tuned decided to tweak a few things on the powertrain, particularly in the ECU unit, giving the Audi R8 V10 more power  depending on octane levels.

While the process is still taking place, APR Tuned has been able to boost the total power of the Audi R8 V10 up to 583 horsepower and 431 pound-feet of torque when it is powered by 93 octane fuel. Using slightly tempered 90 octane fuel, the R8 V10 still puts up solid performance numbers, turning in 559 horsepower and 411 pound-feet of torque. Overall, it is an average gain of 57 hp and 36 lb.-ft. of torque.
