Important Info on Vehicle Safety Ratings

If you’re like most drivers, safety is very important when choosing a vehicle, and your safety is very important to us at Audi Charlotte. Knowing what the vehicle safety ratings mean is important because it can help you make an informed decision when you purchase a vehicle. Ratings are either from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The NHTSA ranks cars using a 5-star system and ranks them on three areas: a frontal test determining the chance of injury when a vehicle crashes to a stationary item, a side-impact assessment, and a rollover rating. The IIHS gives five tests: a small overlap front test, a moderate overlap front test, a side test, a roof strength test, and a head restraints and seat test. The highest score on the IIHS tests is “good”.
